well team, i'm pretty proud that i've posted errrrry day this workweek. i'm also proud that i've been staying on top of my dishes, redecorating my apartment, waking up early, and getting things done in general. it's the home stretch of my teaching and tutoring for the spring with k----- test prep which is great because i cannot stand teaching. it's miserable and so not my calling. it did give me some extra dough though, so who am i to complain? it's also a privilege to shepherd some students along their path to medicine, i suppose . . .

i'm also proud that i got honors in my last class.

i'm also proud that i'm eating a whoopie pie right now. yeeep. a whoopie pie with buttercreme filling.

washed down with some izze to get my carbonation fix without the addictive caffeine portion [after all this organic chemistry teaching i once again get carbonation confused with carbocation - ha! be gone, orgo!]:

it was so great being in kansas with my dear, dear grammy and assorted other family members. 
that sweet little town will always be my roots. 

spring has indeed sprung

the princess and i headed home a week and a half ago to have some major relaxin:

we spent the majority of our time in kansas with the ever lovely elva lola grandmother, which is a whole other post of its own, but here are some pics from the trip and our escape to kc for a day (los compas! huge dos equis! friends (and alex)! family! we're spoiled!)

ellie beholds our hometown from urban arts and crafts (if you haven't been, go. right now. 2 projects in the works from treasures found there). we certainly miss our town and all it offers in friendship and fun.

shortly after this photo was taken, we were ushered to the airport where we flew on back home. i think the princess and i should be qualifying for a free flight soon. we were greeted by a district where spring had sprung forth in a beautiful abundance. i mean, just look at my patio tree (top center) dripping with bright blossoms, or the forsythia shining golden. the irises i planted are still alive, and i even made it for the tail end of the cherry blossoms. i can't take it. so, so breathtaking. 

. . . heaven is an eternal spring. 

today i placed a really funny amazon order that contained two books (heaven is here - i love nienie's blog - and health care reform: what it is, why it's necessary, how it works - in cartoon form!), a package of biodegradable princess eleanor poop bags, and 4 oz of silver glitter. ever since i moved to dc i've been pining after some good old fashioned glitter to use to spruce up my depressing apartment. and maybe some to sprinkle on myself and be all like "long day at the office, tee hee".

alright that about brings you up to date for now. i've gotta head to a new part of town to be a tutor. wish me luck.

princess eleanor rose is famous

super cute photos of eleanor, not so much of me. don't look at the girl holding the dog. however, it was a nice privilege to be on the andrew sullivan blog, gq, npr, and ap yesterday! sort of silly, sort of gimmicky, but hopefully it ended up raising a little awareness about the issue at hand: that is, the importance of the individual mandate in the affordable care act to encourage individual responsibility and systemic change for the better [and more affordable]. of course no one quoted me as saying that, only some silly musing about eleanor's puppy insurance [i didn't realize i was on the record! apparently you always are!].

anyway, we [doctors for america represent!] headed down to the supreme court monday morning to show a little support for the aca. it was so nice to see different groups there supporting the law as well, like now and a group of people of faith for health care. it is a good example that this bill has far reaching benefits for those in all walks of life. for some strange reason, rick santorum showed up around noon to say "hey". it wasn't really his type of crowd.

bottom line is: i hope the supreme court gets it right.

hi friends. i am feeling pretty darn well. i've learned a lot about myself this past year, and i feel as though it's all finally coming together in a way that makes me more well rounded and well adjusted. i've slowly come to terms with some of the stressful situations that have been obfuscating my sense of wellbeing, which makes this spring feel like more than just an atmospheric change; instead, an emotional and psychological shift that i can feel welling up from my core. spring break helped to solidify this by once again bringing me back to my roots and reminding me of what's important: family, friends, and love. always love. the love of family and friends that overcomes the pain and hurt of life. my skin feels like my own again and that feels good. 

we made it home, again!

we're sorry for being mia lately. we just spreak breaked it up back home and will shortly have an abundance of photos and stories alike. first, though, i have to go teach my students about the mcat. specifically, organic chem. ha! if you know me, you know that's a joke. or, my students wish it was a joke
