sweet rain

i love sitting cozy in my basement nook while a cajillion raindrops pour down and the air vibrates with the force of the thunder. the thunder here isn't the same as in the midwest - it's less uproarious [perhaps a little less sure of itself?] but that's ok. it's a taste of home. sometimes i just want to put on my bikini and lay on my patio and take a shower in the pure rain. except that it's not pure, probably. it's probably full of chemicals that are bad for humans to put on their skin. oh well. it's just the price we pay for being industrialized. worth it? maybe the verdict's still out on that one.
later, alligators. i must write a paper on the role of community health centers in reducing the cost of healthcare. i'm going to tell you all about my thoughts on the health care system as it is and how i think it should be - another time.

heyyyy

hi there friends!! i'm not really sure where to start, as i've been absent again for quite some time. you deserve to know that the reason i often go into hibernation is because after exams i get quite preoccupied with worry and dread about my performance on said exams! and so then i can't bear to make blog posts or be natural. but finally, grades are back!! i scored a big fat "p" in my head, neck and special senses class. horray! now i can bulldoze forward with neuroscience (there's nothing i'd rather do . . .).

anyway, i have tons to update on you, but i guess i'll start with not last weekend but the one before. below you see the disaster that my apartment was after the exam was over (i think they call it the exam week tornado?). you also see a group of people doing the ms walk in dc! it was great fun, even though it was rainy and reallllly windy. i'm glad we could get out to support adam and his family! finally, after the ms walk we were able to celebrate a Seder meal at daniel, adam, andy, anna, and abby's apartment which was prepared by daniel's mother who was in town! it was a wonderful cultural experience and i hope to go to more! then we all went out dancing in adams morgan. and ate some wonderful falafel and fries at amsterdam, and then retired for the evening. the weekend before last was a lovely, fun time indeed.

thanks for listening, and i'm so sorry it's been so long . . . i'll make it up to you!!!

saturday fun day

hey hey! this morning was awesome because i had chocolate chip pancakes with my dear friend michelle and we got pedicures! now i'm all relaxed and can enjoy a star wars marathon on tv and study my heart out (return of the jedi is on, my very favorite!) (right now jabba the hutt's first lady prisoner is getting eaten by the rancor, ek).
stuffed yoda from target . . . i'm not too old for toys!
it's a good day for staying inside and cleaning/studying because the weather is nasty, cloudy, and chilly.
i can't believe that i almost didn't complain to you all about how i got sick last week! oh my goodness! one of the main reasons i love my blog is because i can complain to my friends and family all at once! i must be getting more mature because i didn't even think to mention it until just now when i almost choked trying to cough up some phlegm. LOL. anyway, so i've been sick. like chest cold-congestion-sore throat-runny nose-sinus pressure-multicolored phlegm sort of sick. and it lasted about a week and for this last week its sort of been tapering off, but lingering in the form of drainage. yum. that's all! i'm pretty much better.

ok, happy saturday! i have to go get things done. xoxo,

i'm back, no big deal :)

sorry for the long absence! ooooops.

since we last talked, i passed sdr (horray happiness!), had a lovely spring break in kc, and started a course called head and neck at school. the head and neck are complicated areas of the body for sure! there are many nerves and blood vessels snaking about and supplying a multitude of muscles.

anyway, about spring break! i headed to kc with little e in tow and we had a wonderful time catching up with family and friends alike.
sorry for the brevity . . . must go learn more! will update more tomorrow!

xoxo,

p.s. tonight there's supposed to be a good old fashioned thunderstorm . . . lovely!

go cats!

my k-state wildcats just took down the {formerly} 8th ranked texas team, woot! i'm so proud.

sadly, tonight i had to take down my Christmas tree. it added so much character and color to the apartment. but alas, it is march tomorrow so i did the adult thing.
ellie offered emotional support during the disassembling of the tree.
i forgot to mention earlier that she was so funny in the rain today. she bounded out the door, initially excited to go for a walk. however, as soon as a few fat raindrops landed on her furry back, she stopped in her tracks and turned around all slo-mo and looked at me like "nuh uh, no way am i going farther than to pop a squat in this weather." how cute.
i made this ear warmer/headband thing yesterday to keep my ears warm/try to be fashionable. i definitely accomplished the ear warming goal, who knows about about the fashionable part. i can be pretty clueless at times as we all know. {note: i didn't make the flower. just pinned it on. i lacked the patience to knit a flower yesterday. somehow it takes longer to knit a little flower than to make an entire half hat} {p.s. lil bro b, your hat is on the way. i'm just working on knitting a flower for it :)}

alright pals. off to bed so that i can get to school on time tomorrow. i actually made it to class today and i was only 15 minutes late. i'm turning over a new leaf!

so much love,

k and e
