HEY FRIENDS!!

sorry for the hiatus! i was studying, learning, procrastinating, worrying, and shivering. etc etc.

but now i'm back! since i got a big fat p in cardiopulmonary i can move on to updating my blog, rocking the gastrointestinal system, visiting with friends, and trying to stay warm. and maybe taking down the tree. but probably not that.

my good friend g is visiting with her hubby this weekend and i cannot wait to see them. i will be sure to keep you updated on all the fun we have :) but first i need to clean up my apartment and finish a service learning paper ( . . . underserved blah blah blah caring and serving blah blah blah duty do do dah dah etc) (i don't mean that to sound flippant, i do care about serving underserved populations, but i don't like writing about it. i wish i was a better writer).

i'd better sign off and get stuff done. you can bet i'll be posting pictures soon of my fun weekend!!

on to a real post: coming back to school in the dead of winter is sort of a bummer. i miss my friends and family and perhaps some seasonal affective disorder is setting in. after taking my exam on friday, i'm going to do something real thinking about how to counter the winter blues. start a running program? see more of my friends here? try to make more friends at school? i don't even know. for now, i want to pass cardiopulm. hmmm.

so today i was thinking, isn't it sort of criminal to have such a cute dog and not enter her in any cutest dog contests? so to rectify the situation i entered her in a contest that a southern illinois photographer is having on facebook, and the prize is a large array of awesomely cute dog toys from etsy. since you all know that i'm a poor student, you can only imagine that e doesn't always get the toys she deserves. let's make it up to her by heading over to jill heupel photography on facebook, liking the photography page, finding the picture of ellie in all her perky eared fawn colored glory, and click "like". pretty simple :)

it would be impossible to say no to this face.

the good and the bad

so i'm happy today because i was assigned to a pediatrician's office for ambulatory care this semester, but less happy about the 2 hour round trip it's going to take to get there. it's fine though, my excitement for the chance to actually interact with patients outweighs the bummer commute (the proximity of the office to a crate and barrel and a supermarket helps too).

i am unhappy today after visiting weather.com. blerghx100. the 5-day forecast basically just chilled me down to the bones. i'm so not jealous of my friends and family in the midwest and the rockies due to their snowstorms, but looks like i won't avoid it, either. at least there is an 80% chance i won't.

{oh my goodness i just turned around to find e chewing on my respiratory notes! what the what?! dogs do eat homework!}

ttfn! time to hunker down and learn things.

so, so cute

study breaks, sleeping too much, etc

so last night i indulged myself in a too-fun study break. i went over to the boys' house where michelle prepared an ahhhmazing taco bar and a good time was had by all. here is what the yummy-ness looked like:

ok, maybe the pictures didn't turn out so hot. i think it must have been due to the photographer :)

then i went home last night after a few mugs of wine, and had a bizarre dream about having a baby. very strangely, everyone who was helping me with said baby kept leaving it places or not putting a diaper on it so it kept urinating on the carpet. it was very disconcerting. i don't know what that means, except maybe not to let any of my current friends and family take care of a baby if i should have one someday.

finally, e and i are settling down for a long day's study session, with brief intermissions to check on the chiefs in their playoff game. here's how cute we look in our study clothes:
