happy holidays

hi there friends. i have taken a bit of a hiatus from the writing of posts, and i'm sorry. cardio-pulm has been taking up a bit of my time. but now i'm finished (for now) and safely enjoying bountiful blessings - namely sleeping a lot and eating a lot. also enjoying the company of family. i promise i'll make a real update soon with pictures and all.

glenn beckster

o beautiful for heroes proved
in liberating strife.
who more than self
their country loved
and mercy more than life!
america! america!
may God thy gold refine
till all success be nobleness
and every gain divine!

during a study break today i decided to watch the glenn beck show. lol. i know right? i just figured it would be a good cultural experience. he hasn't done anything super crazy yet. instead, he quoted the above verse of america the beautiful and asserted that these are the sort of americans we need today. i agree, in a way, though probably in a different way than he means it.

ok now he just said he likes to make styrofoam bonfires. that is a little crazy. and i wish he wouldn't act so polarizing. but i guess that's just the thing they (political talk show hosts) do. and i must say, his audience looks bored to death.

happy birthday, darling e!

my little pup e is 2 today. it is so cliche, but time really does fly. it seems like yesterday that i adopted this little chunk of golden spunk.

unfortunately we aren't doing much for her birthday because i've been studying a lot and because it is so so so freezing outside . . . she's currently whining because she already ruined her birthday squeaky toy by ripping out the stuffing and i won't give it back to her to thoroughly destroy (i get paranoid that she'll choke on a squeaker). but maybe since it's her birthday i'll remove the squeaker and let her rip its guts out.

in other news, i got an awesome and classy care package from the parents today, via harry and david (ahhhwesome). it definitely helps my brain to have the tastiest pears in the world, apples, nuts, cheese, and chocolate covered espresso beans to gnaw on. ahhhmazing!! even e liked the pear (she got some pieces due to it being her birthday and all).

grad school gourmet . . .
anyway, i hope you're all keeping warm and safe. i can't wait to see so many of you during my holiday hiatus. but i can't think about that right now, it's back to the books to learn all about the

i think this is funny

EDIT:

well rats. looks like the funny people falling on ice video got taken off the interwebs because it was too controversial. but come on. what is so controversial about a few people falling on ice? it happens to the best of us. and as far as i can tell, no one was hurt severely in the filming of said video. oh well. i can see both sides. but the side of me that likes to share laughs is bummed.

happy friday night, friends :)

{i'm going to go learn things now. i know, right? nerd}

if i had a million dollars

i'd only buy handmade (courtesy of etsy)
ok, ok, it looks like all my top picks belong in a child's room (i didn't realize it until i lined them all up . . . ). i guess i'm just young at heart and appreciate bold colors with simple themes. i don't apologize.

in a slightly different vein (ha, ha) here are some school-appropriate/awesome trinkets (also courtesy of etsy):
and thus concludes my procrastination session.

until next time!!
