more on the blerg tomorrow. much to update on, not a lot of time during which to do so.
till then, ellie and i are snuggie-ing up and blasting the space heater.
[i know, i know, friends from back home: 25 isn't that cold, relatively speaking. but here? here the cold is a wet wet cold that seeps into your bones. YOUR BONES]
. . . was really late for her derm screening appointment because she thought the dept was at georgetown when it fact it is far away in chevy chase. she felt like a real stinker for that one.
. . . is about to round off a 3rd viewing of the entirety of gilmore girls
. . . study study study . . . is getting right back in the swing of things from winter break, which was awesome by the way. skiing, family, friends, and food.
. . . got two childhood-era fillings replaced - and all she got was this fleece:
. . . got handy and built (by herself) a couple of things from ikea, one being a sorely needed shoe cabinet
. . . scored this trench from j. crew (originally $298) for a steal at $75 - a savings of 75%. what?!
. . . is currently disappointed that the snow storm iago won't hit dc. more soon is promised. have a great thursday afternoon!
alright, alright. i may have overreacted a tad bit yesterday in rushing princess eleanor rose to the veterinarian's office. i am pretty frustrated with myself, because i do call myself a medical student. i should have some level of critical thinking and medical reasoning that would have led me to the ultimate conclusion of what the bump on eleanor's rump was. i mean, really. the second we stepped into the examination room, i smacked my face and exclaimed to the vet tech 'oh my goodness! i feel just like a regular blockhead! the rabies shot! of course!' the sweet vet tech smiled and shook her head and said 'sweetie, don't you worry. it happens to everyone!' the sweet vet tech and dr vet took a look at my ellie anyway, and confirmed that yes, a recent rabies vaccination indeed can cause a localized mass at the injection shot and that sure, i should just monitor for two weeks and give them a call back. it's better to be safe than sorry. i apologized profusely for wasting their time, and also thanked them. on the way out, the sweet vet tech said 'are you a pediatrician? you just seem like you'd be a great pediatrician.' what a sweet thing to say. i took it as a compliment and chalked up the afternoon as worth it. long story short, e and i are ok over here, for now. other than the spanking that my dear wildcats received last night. next season. always, next season. i'm off to do things. xoxo, me
[p.s., in other news, i'm slowly trying to purge my facebook of anyone who i wouldn't recognize in the street or anyone who i wouldn't want to loan one hundred bucks to. this could take awhile. occasionally i see a post that just gets my blood pressure really boiling, and then i realize life is too short to look at stuff on facebook that makes my blood pressure boil. so, a purge it is. heaven help me.]
hi friends! thanks to those of you who took the time to sign the petition i linked to yesterday. doctors for america is a fun organization because they are such a dedicated group of folks who are able to deliver messages from our mouths to the government's ears. in other news, i just arrived back in dc from a whirlwind christmas break. strangely, this is the first time i've returned home with a feeling of contentedness instead of a stubborn wistfulness for the west. i'll take it. talk to you soon, kate
baby dog
p.s. i have to take the princess to the vet today. she has a lump on her left leg which makes me very nervous. i'll let you know how it goes. also, this.
